RAFTS responds to a range of consultations relating to freshwater and coastal management issues which have an impact of freshwater and migratory fish. Where appropriate RAFTS and the Association of Salmon Fishery Boards (ASFB) make joint responses to consultations to demonstrate the collective opinion from the freshwater fisheries sector. Consultation on the Wildlife & Natural Heritage Bill Scottish Government

 Contains new provisions covering:

  • the management of wild deer
  • the operation of the game laws
  • invasive non-native species
  • the administration of licences to disturb animal, bird and plant species

     Consultation on diffuse pollution mitigation strategy SEPA   Joint ASFB/RAFTS response submitted by River Dee Trust 
    Consultation on forestry provisions in the Scottish Climate Change Bill The Forestry Commission  This consultation paper suggests some proposals for legislation that will permit the establishment of joint ventures, to develop renewable sources of energy on the national forest estate, and the development of a new approach to cutting rights, allowing lease arrangements to release financial resources for investment in creating new woodlands. A suitably constituted not-for profit voluntary body could help secure the public interest in such forests and bring renewed vigour to the task of woodland creation.     The Freshwater Fish Conservation (Prohibition of Fishing for Eels) (Scotland) Regulations 2008 The Scottish Government Proposal under section 51A of the Salmon and Freshwater Fisheries (Consolidation) (Scotland) Act 2003 to prohibit fishing by any method for eels(Anguilla Anguilla) in Scotland, except under licence from Scottish Ministers.     The Future of Flood Risk Management in Scotland The Scottish Government This consultation document sets out the proposals designed to establish a framework within which sustainable flood risk management in Scotland will operate more effectively than at present. RAFTS response

    A Strategic Framework for Scottish Freshwater Fisheries The Scottish Government Consultation seeking views on the strategic framework developed by the many fishing interests in Scotland with an aim of achieving a shared goal of Scotland having a sustainably managed freshwater fish and fisheries resource for the economic and social benefit of its people.
